susan, coffee, and dogs

Tonight we got to open for Susan Greenbaum at one of our very favorite coffee shops, Common Groundz. We had an absolute blast – as a matter of fact, I am typing this during the last part of her set. It was a hectic afternoon leading up to the show – our three dogs had gotten loose inadvertently a few hours before we were supposed to play. Panic of course – I could already see them hit by a car, or not being able to find their way home. Exactly one hour before we were supposed to go on stage my hubby (who had been driving around the neighborhood trying to find the lost animals) came driving into the driveway with three exhausted puppies…… he had found them trying to make their way home across a very busy street, thoroughly filthy, beat from their adventures….. I have seldom been so relieved! So we got the dogs safely inside, and raced off to unload sound, set up sound, sound check, and start playing by 7:07 (was supposed to be 7 – but this was the best we could do ). I felt frazzled the first few songs, but then things calmed down and it actually ended up being a great set.

Oh…. and Susan is amazing. If you don’t have any of her stuff – get it. Worth every penny!
